70% Employers Checking Social Media Before Hiring Candidates

As per the report it is said 70% employers use Social Media to screen candidates while 43% employers use it to check current employees. While as per Career Builder 57% employers are checking candidates social media accounts and say they have found contents that made them to take decision not to hire such candidates.
When asked about top 3 reasons that made them to eliminate candidates in percentage, the result was as below :
a) 40% found to be provocative or inappropriate content
b) 36% Candidates found posting content about drinking or using drugs while
c) 31% candidates found sharing discriminatory comments.
“Because we tend to view our personal social media accounts as being ‘personal,’ there’s a good chance that by viewing someone’s profile, you’ll get a glimpse into
their personality beyond the resume,” said DeeAnn Sims, founder of SPBX.
Employers check your social media before hiring because :
1. They find reasons not to offer you a job
2. They come to know about your personality without meeting you beyond your resume or CV
3. It helps employers to know if the candidate thinking and behaviour matches with their Organization environment
